GREENVILLE, S.C. — Coastal Carolina University's women's cross country team placed eighth out of 26 teams earlier today at the NCAA Southeast Regional. Freshman Kim Nemergut and junior Kara Koppel led the Lady Chanticleers as they each earned NCAA Southeast All-Region honors.
Nemergut set a school record in a 6,000-meter race with her time of 22:20 for 20th place. Koppel placed 22nd with a time of 22:22. Nemergut becomes the first freshman in Coastal Carolina history to earn All-Region status.
The Coastal Carolina men placed 27th of 29 teams and were led by senior Campbell Claridge, who placed 54th with a time of 32:16 in the 10,000-meter men's race.
