CONWAY, SC — Senior Ryan McGraw scored the game-winning run for Coastal in the eighth inning on a throwing error by the College of Charleston second baseman, as the Coastal Carolina baseball team came-from-behind to defeat the Cougars,
6-5, Wednesday evening at Watson Stadium. Coastal, winners of seven straight, improve to 38-12, while CofC falls to 27-22.

Senior Steve Soja (2-0) picked up the win tossing two innings of relief, allowing one hit, while striking three. Barry Richardson (2-3) suffered the loss for the Cougars.

College of Charleston scored all five of their runs in the first inning. Stanley Nix drove in the first run on his single to center. The Cougars would score its second run of the inning on a fielding error by the CCU third baseman. Jay McCown would drive in two more runs with a single to center. Anthony Fairchild would score the final run of the inning on the second error of the inning by the CCU third baseman.

Senior Brandon Powell would get Coastal on the board in the third inning with his third home run of the season, a three-run blast to left field.

Junior Greg Orsimarsi would drive in the next two runs for Coastal. The first came on a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Jeff Baker in the fourth inning, while the second run came in the sixth inning when he singled in Tyler Hasbrouck from second base.

Coastal will next entertain Charleston Southern in a three-game Big South Conference series, beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. at Watson Stadium. College of Charleston will travel to VMI for a three-game series beginning on Saturday in Lexington, Va.
