The Coastal Carolina University baseball team (7-14) managed eight hits off the 28
th-ranked College of Charleston (18-4), but left 11 men on base in a 3-1 loss March 21 at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. The College of Charleston struck first with a run in the bottom of the third. Joey Friddle led off the inning with a single up the middle. He moved to second on a sacrifice by Phillip Coker. Oliver Marmol then brought Friddle home with another single up the middle. In the bottom of the fourth, the Cougars’ Matt Kirkpatrick hit a two-out single to left field, scoring Ben Lasater and giving CofC a 2-0 lead. Lasater reached base by doubling to right field. Quinn Monsma earned the win for the Cougars, who have now won six games in a row. He struck out four in 2.1 innings.
