PINEHURST, N.C. -- The Coastal Carolina women's golf squad secured a fifth-place finish with their final round at the 2007 Pinehurst Challenge, Mar. 6. The tournament, shortened to 36 holes due to weather, was contested at Pinehurst Resort #8 at Pinehurst, N.C., Mar. 5-6.

The Lady Chanticleers shot a 307 in the final round, a nine-shot improvement from their opening round, to move out of a tie and finish in fifth at 623, 10 shots behind champion East Carolina and runner-up North Carolina State, both at 613. ECU won a scorecard playoff for the title. Host College of Charleston was third at 619.

Freshman Aruka Felgueroso was the top player for Coastal, tying for sixth at nine-over 153, while sophomore Ann Maness and freshman Johanna Rodert tied for 19th at 12-over 156. Sara Wikstrom of Arkansas-Little Rock and East Carolina's Lene Krog tied for medalist honors at five-over 149.

Coastal is back on the course Mon.-Tue., Mar. 19-20 at the USF/Waterlefe Invitational, being played at the Waterlefe Golf & River Club in Bradenton, Fla.
