INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Coastal Carolina University junior infielder Scott Woodward (Markle, Ind./Norwell) is leading the NCAA Division I in stolen bases, the organization announced in their weekly stats April 20.
Woodward has 36 stolen bases after going 10-for-10 in three games against Gardner-Webb this past weekend. The junior passed Savannah State's Dexter Kelley and Jackson State's Willie Wesley, who have 35 stolen bases apiece. Coastal junior Rico Noel (Lawton, Okla./Lawton) is in fourth with 34 stolen bases. The Chanticleer pair also is second and fourth in stolen bases per game at 1.00 and 0.92, respectively.
Coastal continues its nine-game road trip Wednesday, April 21 at UNC Wilmington. Game time is at 6 p.m.
