INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--The Coastal Carolina University baseball team is sitting on top of the NCAA Baseball Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), the organization released April 27.
The Chanticleers moved up from eighth to the top spot in Tuesday's index. The Chanticleers had won 17 games in a row until their 6-3 loss at #1 Virginia April 27. Coastal is helped by its 36-6 overall record and 13-2 road record. The Chants are followed by Florida, Arizona State, Texas and Louisvlle in the top five.
Coastal is ranked fifth in Wednesday's Boyd's World's simulated RPI; while Warren Nolan's simulated RPI has the Chants in the seventh spot.
Coastal Carolina will open a three-game series Friday, April 30 against UNC Asheville. First pitch is at 6 p.m., in Watson Stadium/Vrooman Field.
