Final Stats
RALEIGH, N.C.- For the second time in three days, the Chanticleers were on the road to take on a strong non-conference opponent. This time it was the N.C. State Wolfpack of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Chants fell in the match by a final of 7-0.
Once again, the Chanticleers featured a lineup that was a mixture of both experienced upperclassmen and true freshmen. Freshmen Alyssa Clark, Kate Wilkinson, and Christina Stern all started their first collegiate game.
"The first half was well played tonight," said head coach Tammy DeCesare. "We had some real quality chances in the half, including a header by Sara Niles in the waning moments of the period."
"The team came out strong in the second half, but were unable to convert on the opportunities that we had."
The Chants keepers combined for a total of 10 saves throughout the contest. Sophomore sweeper Jessica Barton tallied five saves in the first half of play, bringing her total to nine on the young season. Senior Karen Pavlick took over for Barton in the second half and picked up five saves of her own.
The Chanticleer took seven shots on the evening, including four shots on goal by Anna Tupy, Niles, Clark, and Ali Morin.
The Chants will continue their early season road trip on Saturday, as they head south to take on the College of Charleston at 7 p.m., in a non-conference match-up.
