VAIL, Colo. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team finished tied for 15th with an overall score of 948 after three days of competition at the Golfweek Conference Challenge from the Fazio Course at the Red Sky Golf Club.
Virginia won the tournament with a three-day score of 877 (287-303-287), while Cavalier Brittany Altomare won the individual title after shooting 212 (69-73-70).
Senior Alicia Grier finished first for the Chants and tied for 40th overall with a score of 230. Grier led Coastal in all three rounds and had daily scores of 79, 77, 74. She put together four birdies Tuesday and finished the afternoon just two strokes over par and moved up nine spots in the standings.
Junior Kaitlin Higginbotham finished tied for 57th and placed second for the Chanticleers with an overall score of 238 (80-78-80). Freshman Courtney Boe placed third on the team and tied for 59th overall with her score of 239 (81-81-77).
Jessica Alexander put together scores of 82, 80, 79 and tied for 67th overall with her score of 241. Taylor Slagle rounded out the Coastal golfers and placed tied for 86th with an overall score of 249 (82-86-81).
Coastal returns to action Oct. 8 when the Chanticleers travel to Knoxville, Tenn., to take part in the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship.
