SORRENTO Fla. - Coastal Carolina and sophomore Jessica Alexander both sit in first place after day two of competition at the UCF Challenge at the RedTail Golf Club.
The Chanticleers, who finished day one in second place after shooting a 285, turned in a score of 289 on Monday and own an overall score of 574. Coastal Carolina currently sits two strokes under par and leads second place South Carolina by four strokes.
Alexander birdied five holes and carded a 69 on Monday to take over sole possession of first place, leaving her one stroke ahead of Kentucky's Ashleigh Albrecht. Alexander holds an overall score of 135 and is nine-under par after shooting a career-low 66 Sunday in round one.
Junior Kaitlin Higginbotham shot a career-best 72 on Monday and moved up 10 spots and is currently tied for 14th overall. Higginbotham birdied four holes in round two and has an overall score of 145 following her round one score of 73.
Sophomore Brittany Henderson improved her position by 31 spots and now sits tied for 29th after carding a career-low 72 in round two. The Smith Falls, Ontario, native birdied five holes on Monday and now owns an overall score of 148 following an opening round 76.
Senior Alicia Grier posted a score of 79 in the second round and is currently tied for 34th overall with an overall score of 149. Freshman Courtney Boe moved up six spots and is tied for 54th place after carding a 76 in the second round. Boe enters the final round with an overall score of 153.
The tournament concludes Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. with a shotgun start.
