VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team sits in first place after the first day of the Kinderlou Forest Challenge from the Kinderlou Forest Golf Course.
The Chanticleers fired a 303 on day one and sit one stroke ahead of second-place Western Carolina on the par-73, 6359 yard course.
Sophomore Jessica Alexander is tied for sixth place after carding a 74 in round one. Alexander made par on the first 10 holes and birdied two of the next three and sits just three strokes behind overall leaders Hannah Thomson and Emma de Groot.
Fellow sophomore Brittany Henderson carded a 75 on Sunday and finished the day tied for ninth, while junior Kaitlin Higginbotham also tied for ninth with a score of 75.
Senior Alicia Grier finished round one tied for 44th overall with a score of 79, and freshman Courtney Boe ended day one tied for 62nd with a score of 82.
Day two of competition resumes Monday morning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
