VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team remains in first place after two rounds of competition at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge from the Kinderlou Forest Golf Course.
The Chants finished day one in first place with a score of 303 in round one and bettered that by six strokes en route to a 297 on Monday. Coastal Carolina enters the final day of competition with an overall score of 600 and leads second place Chattanooga and Florida State by six strokes.
Sophomore Brittany Henderson moved up five places Monday and sits in fourth place with an overall score of 147. Henderson carded a one-under par 72 in round two after shooting a 75 on Sunday in round one.
Fellow sophomore Jessica Alexander is tied for seventh overall after turning in a 75 Monday in round two. Alexander recorded six birdies in round two and enters the final day of competition tied for the most birdies with eight. The Riverview, Fla., native shot a 74 Sunday in round one and owns an overall score of 149.
Junior Kaitlin Higginbotham enters round three tied for 15th overall with a score of 151 following rounds of 75 and 76. Freshman Courtney Boe posted four birdies improved her position by 31 places on Monday and sits tied for 31st with an overall score of 156 after firing a 74. Boe finished round one in 62nd place with a score of 82.
Senior Alicia Grier carded an 82 on Monday and is tied for 53rd overall with a score of 161. The Hagerstown, Md., native shot a 79 Sunday in round one.
The tournament concludes Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
