VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team turned in a second place finish after three rounds of competition at the Kinderlou Forest Challenge from the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
The Chanticleers finished with an overall score of 905 (303-297-305) and ended the three-day tournament nine strokes behind overall champion Chattanooga on the par-73, 6,349-yard course.
Augusta State (306-307-296=909), Florida State (306-300-304=910) and Furman (306-312-302=920) rounded out the top-5.
Sophomore Jessica Alexander tied for fourth overall with a score of 223 (74-75-74) and finished the tournament with 11 birdies. Fellow sophomore Brittany Henderson tied with Alexander for fourth place with her score of 223. Henderson turned in rounds of 75, 72, and 76 and tied her career-low in round two.
Junior Kaitlin Higginbotham placed third for the Chants and tied for 26th overall after shooting a 231 (75-76-80). Freshman Courtney Boe continued to move up the leaderboard and ended the tournament tied for 26th overall after carding a 231 (82-74-75). Boe ended day one in 62nd place before moving up 31 spots after round two to sit tied for 31st on Monday.
Senior Alicia Grier ended the tournament in 68th place following rounds of 79, 82, and 85 on her way to an overall score of 246.
Coastal Carolina returns to action March 6-7 when the Chanticleers travel to Gainesville, Fla., to take part in the Suntrust Gator Women's Invitational.
