2013 Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate Results

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Coastal Carolina fired a 306 over its final round of the 2013 Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate to finish seventh on the team leaderboard in the 18-team tournament at the par-72, 6,214-yard Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.

Jessica Alexander was the Chanticleers' top finisher at the event with a 13th-place (tied) showing. Brittany Henderson tied for 15th in the 99-competitor field followed by Frida Castillo (t-38th), Lena Schaeffner (t-41st) and Marissa Hinchman (t-50th).

Sixteenth-ranked Purdue (295-291-290) claimed the team title with a 12-over 876 36-hole score. No. 9 Vanderbilt (290-293-294=877) was second followed by No. 26 Notre Dame (303-290-295=888), No. 22 Texas (299-310-290=899) and host Augusta State (305-294-307=906). East Carolina (310-294-303=907) placed sixth with the Chants (304-300-306=910) coming home seventh. Coastal did defeat No. 48 UTSA and No. 34 Kentucky, who tied for ninth with matching 921 tallies.

Notre Dame's Ashley Armstrong captured individual medalist honors with a 1-under 215 (76-69-70).

Alexander's top-20 finish was her sixth of the season and the 22nd of her Chanticleer career. The senior totaled a 223 (73-75-75) three-round score after tallying a 3-over 75 on her final time around the course. Alexander was 1-under through her first six holes of the day, but stumbled with four bogeys over her final 12 holes en route to her 75. In all, Alexander made nine birdie putts over the three days of competition.

Henderson, who notched her sixth top-20 of the season, carded a 4-over 76 on the day. She finished the tournament at 8-over with a 224 (76-72-76). Henderson picked up a pair of birdies over her final round to finish the tournament with eight. She concluded the tournament ranked eighth in par-4 scoring, playing the holes at a combined 3-over.

Castillo finished the event at 15-over with her 231 (78-75-78) 54-hole tally. Her final round featured a birdie on the par-5, 533-yard 17th hole to go along with 12 pars.

Schaeffner and Hinchman rounded out Coastal's scoring. Schaeffner shot a 5-over 77 Sunday and carded a 16-over 232 (77-78-77) for the tournament. Hinchman turned in a three-day tally of 236 (80-78-78). Schaeffner finished the event with eight birdies, while Hinchman had seven.

The Chanticleers return to action on March 25-26 at the Briar's Creek Invitational.
