Lady Paladin Round 2 Results

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Coastal Carolina sophomore Lena Schaeffner is tied for ninth overall at the Lady Paladin Invitational after shooting a 2-over par 74 during the second round of play at the Furman University Golf Course.

With Schaeffner leading the way, the Chanticleers (298-300=598) are tied for ninth in the stout 18-team field. The host Paladins are pacing the field through two rounds with a score of 2-under 574 (286-288). Wake Forest (288-295) and Texas Tech (293-290) are tied for second in the team standings with matching 583 scores.

Schaeffner (71-74=145) opened the round with bogeys on holes one and two, but quickly got a stroke back with a birdie on three. She made par over her next five holes before trading bogeys and pars on 9-12. A birdie at 13 moved her back to 2-over on the day. She went on to finish the round with five pars, totaling her 2-over 74.

Freshman Malene Krolboll Hansen equaled Schaeffner's effort with a 74 of her own. Hansen, who is tied for 47th on the individual leaderboard, shaved four strokes off her first round score. Hansen played the front nine even with birdies on holes three and six coupled with bogeys on four and eight. She bogeyed holes 10 and 15 on the back nine, but counted pars the other seven holes. Hansen enters the final round with an 8-over score of 152 (78-74).

Bailey Cocca is tied for 27th. After an opening round 74, the junior turned in a 75 Tuesday for a 5-over 149. Cocca scored two birdies and 10 pars on the day.

Marissa Hinchman closed the round with a 77, while Frida Castillo posted an 87. Hinchman is tied for 47th with an 8-over 152 (75-77). Castillo is tied for 92nd with a 167 (80-87).

The tournament concludes with a final 18 holes of play on Tuesday.
