COLUMBIA, MO. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team turned in the 10th-best round in program history on Tuesday en route to a sixth-place finish at The Johnie Imes Invitational, played at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo.

The Chanticleers closed the tournament with an even-par round of 288 and totaled a three-round score of 12-over 876 (292-296-288). The 876 score tally ties as the fourth-best 54-hole score in CCU history. Coastal benefited from its par-5 scoring, playing the holes at a combined 2-under for the tournament.

Host Missouri captured the team title with an 18-under 54-hole score of 846 (282-280-284=846). Kansas State was the runner-up, finishing at 14-under (850). Middle Tennessee State and Florida Atlantic tied for third with matching 2-under 862 scores. Arkansas-Little Rock placed fifth with a 10-over 874, followed by Coastal's 876 in sixth.

Lena Schaeffner was the Chants' top finisher on the individual leaderboard, recording an 18th-place showing. However, it was Bailey Cocca who turned in a career-best day with her final round 70.

Schaeffner, the reigning Big South Golfer of the Week, shot a 1-under Tuesday to go with her rounds of 72 and 75 on Monday for a 2-over 218 total. Schaeffner finished the tournament with 11 birdies, tying for fifth-best in the 83-competitor field. Her 31 pars tied for 12th in the field.

Freshman Malene Krolboll Hansen finished a stroke behind Schaeffner and tied for 19th overall. Hansen shot a 73 during each of her three trips around the course, totaling a 3-over 219 score. Hansen tied for fourth in the field in par-4 scoring, playing the holes at 3-under for the tournament.

Emee Herbert tied for 24th individually, carding a 4-over career-best 54-hole score of 220. Herbert opened the tournament with an even-par 72 before shooting 74s on rounds two and three. The senior, who counted six birdies, tied for third in the field with 40 total pars.

Cocca, who opened the tournament with 76s on Monday, rebounded Tuesday to shoot her career-best 70. Her final round featured five birdies, including one each on holes 16, 17 and 18. Cocca tied for 30th overall with a three-round score of 222 (+6).

Marissa Hinchman rounded out the Chanticleer contingent, tying for 32nd with an 8-over 224 (75-74-75). She counted six birdies, including three on her final round, during the tournament.

Coastal's next tournament is the Jacksonville University-hosted JU Classic at the Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Verde Beach, Fla. The 54-hole tournament opens with 36 holes of play of Monday, Oct. 13 and concludes with a final 18 holes on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
