2015 Palmetto Intercollegiate Results

KIAWAH ISLAND - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team concluded its fall 2015 season with a seventh-place showing in the 20-team Palmetto Intercollegiate. The College of Charleston-hosted event was contested on the par-72, 5,972-yard Kiawah Island Resort - Turtle Point course. The Chanticleers were led by junior Barbora Bakova's 11th-place (tied) showing in the 102-competitor field.

Furman won tournament with a 10-over round of 298 on Tuesday and a 54-hole score of 11-over par 875 (288-289-298). Chattanooga finished second, carding a three-day total of 18-over par 882 (295-295-292). Campbell rounded out the top three with a 20-over 884 (286-296-302). The Chanticleers turned in rounds of 294-305-295 for a 54-hole total of 894, despite Lena Schaeffner, the reigning Big South Player of the Year, withdrawing midway through round two and reducing Coastal to only four possible scorers.

Kansas' Yupaporn Kawinpakorn claimed medalist honors with a 3-under 54-hole total of 213 (70-73-70).

Bakova carded a 3-under 69 during the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament en route to finishing the event with a 3-over 228 (75-75-69). Bakova counted five birdies, including three straight on holes 15, 16 and 17, along with 11 pars against two bogeys on Tuesday. The 69 marks her best round as a Chanticleer.

Malene Krolboll Hansen closed the tournament with a 4-over 76 on Tuesday, totaling a 222 (69-77-76) to finish tied for 19th overall. She recorded 33 pars and eight birdies thought her three rounds of play.

Marie Lunackova and Bailey Cocca finished tied for 38th overall. Lunackova turned in rounds of 77-76-74 for her 11-over 227 score. Cocca's 11-over 227 was achieved via rounds of 74-77-76. Lunackova rolled in five birdie putts during the three-day tournament, while Cocca counted six.

The Chanticleers return to the links to start their championship season on Feb. 12-14, 2016 at the famed Florida State Match-Up.
