CONWAY - The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team downed Charleston Southern 3-0 in its last regular season game on Tuesday evening. The win secured the Chants spot to host a quarterfinal game as they head into Big South Tournament play this weekend.

The Chanticleers finished league play with a 7-2-1 record, which is the same record as the 2014 campaign. The Buccaneers dropped to 4-6-0 in the conference which secures them a position as the 7th seed in the tournament. The Chants will host a quarterfinal game but will wait to see who they will face.

Once again the Chants scored within minutes of kickoff putting one in the back of the net just over the minute mark. Daniella Famili gained control of the ball on the flank sending one into the box. Sam Patterson runs right through the ball getting a head on it to score. This was Patterson's third goal of the season.

Coastal continued to dominate the possession throughout the first half outshooting Charleston Southern 10-2.

As the second half began, Coastal took over quickly recording two back to back shots within minutes of each other. Play started to settle down as Charleston Southern tried to battle back from being down a goal but Coastal struck again in the 53rd minute.

Miki Antzoulatos had the ball on the right flank taking it end line towards the goal, cuts one defender sending in a cross towards the top of the six. Famili is there running onto the ball to net goal number two. This was Famili's eighth goal of the season, which puts her in the lead with Kayla Christian who also has eight goals on the season.

A few good chances for the Chants came following the goal, but the Buccaneers defense was stepping up their game.

To solidify the win, Coastal scored with just 45 seconds left of the clock to make it 3-0. Darbie Kelley received the ball in the midfield turning into the attack finding Madi Simons on the through ball sending her 1v1 with the keeper. A Charleston Southern defender was able to recover but Simons took one cut then blasted it to the far left post for the goal. This was Simons first goal of the season and her career.

Coastal ended the night with 17 shots and nine shots on goal to Charleston Southern's five shots and three on goal. Becca Austin recorded three saves on the night giving her 87 on the season.

The Chanticleers will return to action this weekend as they enter Big South Tournament play hosting the quarterfinal game at the CCU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Seed is still to be determined.
