3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate Round 1 Results
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team opened the 2015 edition of the GRU Augusta-hosted 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate with 18 holes Friday and are tied for second in the 13-team field, played on the 6,085-yard, par 71 Forest Hills Golf Club.
The Chanticleers, ranked 43rd in the nation by Golfstat, carded a team score of 298 (+14) and were led by junior Lena Schaeffner. The Kennesaw State lead field with a score of 296 (+12) followed by the Chanticleers, No. 21 Furman (298) and GRU Augusta (298). Chattanooga shot an 18-over 302 and is fifth on the team leaderboard.
Schaeffner, who is ranked 78th by Golfstat, played the front nine 2-over, but rallied with birdies on holes 13 and 18 to turn in an even-par 71. The two-time All-Big South selection is tied for third on the individual leaderboard with GRU Augusta's Teresa Caballer Hernani.
Reigning Big South Golfer of the Week Malene Krolboll Hansen posted a 1-over 72 to open her tournament. She made the turn at even-par after combating a bogey on six with a birdie on nine. She went on to par eight of her final nine holes, with her only blemish coming via a bogey on the par-5 10th hole. She is tied for fifth in the 74-competitor field with Emily McLennan of Chattanooga.
Bailey Cocca posted a 26over 77 and is tied for 25th overall. She was 3-over with a birdie on the par-5 11th hole after 16 holes. However, a triple-bogey on 17 followed by a par on 18 left her to 6-over for the round.
Frida Castillo is tied for 33rd overall after turning in a 7-over 78. The senior recorded a birdie on the day, but was undone by a triple-bogey on the par-5 6th. Overall, she played 11 holes at even-par.
Emee Herbert shot an 11-over 82 and is tied for 59th overall. She concluded her adverse day on a positive note with a birdie on the 295-yar, par-4 18th hole.
Round two of the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate continues with 18 holes on Saturday before concluding with a final 18 holes on Sunday.
