Final Stats

FARMVILLE, Va. - Junior Amber Adams scored five minutes into the first overtime to give the Coastal Carolina women's soccer team dramatic win over the Longwood Lancers Saturday afternoon. Adams collected her first game-winner and third goal of her career.

The Chanticleers move to 2-0-0 in the conference and a 6-4-0 overall. Lancers drop to 1-1-0 in conference play with a 5-5-0 overall.

After 20 minutes of play during the first half Longwood had recorded three shots all on goal forcing Becca Austin to make multiple saves. Coastal's first shot came in the 20 minute mark from Madi Simons to start the Chant's offense off.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net during the first half but both teams generated numerous opportunities. The Lancers recorded seven shots to Coastal's six at the end of the half.

In the first minute of the second half, the Lancers found the back of the net off a cross from Gina D'Orazio to find Olivia Collella at the back post to poke it in making it 1-0.

Coastal answered the Lancers goal just 13 minutes later to gain the momentum back. Ellie Taylor sent in a lofted ball towards the mix finding freshman Jenna Surdick. Surdick gets a head on it and finds the back of the net making it a tie game. This was Surdick's first goal of her career.

The remainder of the half was back and forth play from the two teams with the Lancers outshooting the Chants again 12 to seven.

As the first overtime began, the rain was coming down even harder but that didn't effect Coastal. After five minutes of overtime play, the Chants struck in the 95th to get the game-winner. Miki Antzoulatos gained control of the ball in the midfield and finds Adams on the left flank. Adams shoots low and hard across the goal to the right post and scores.

The Chanticleers will be back in action on Saturday Oct. 3 as they return to Conway for its conference home opener taking on the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
