2015 Johnie Imes Invitational Results

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Coastal Carolina women's golf team turned in a 290 round Tuesday to finish sixth at The Johnie Imes Invitational, played at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Mo.

The Chanticleers closed the tournament with a 2-over par round of 290, which is ties for the 19th-best in program history, en route to totaling a three-round score of 10-over 874 (292-292-290). The 874 score tally ties as the fifth-best 54-hole score in CCU history. Coastal benefited from its par-5 scoring, playing the holes at a combined 5-under for the tournament. The Chants also finished with the field's fourth-most pars (168) and fifth-most birdies (47).

Host Missouri captured the team title with a tournament-record 39-under 54-hole score of 825 (280-269-276=825). Middle Tennessee State was the runner-up, finishing at 14-under (850). Kansas State and Iowa tied for third with matching even-par 864 scores. Florida Atlantic placed fifth with a 7-over 871, followed by Coastal's 874 in sixth.

Malene Krolboll Hansen was the Chants' top finisher on the individual leaderboard, tying for 15th with an even-par 216 54-hole score. Senior Lena Schaeffner and freshman Marie Lunackova tied for 20th with 1-over 217 score.

Hansen shot a 1-under Tuesday to go with her rounds of 71 and 74 on Monday for her 216 total. The sophomore finished the tournament with 10 birdies, tying for 20 in the 96-competitor field. Her 35 pars tied for 19th in the field.

Schaeffner used rounds of 74-72-71 to card her 1-over 217. She tied for seventh in the field in par-5 scoring, playing the holes a combined 3-under. She also counted 12 birdies during her three rounds - the event's sixth-most.

Lunackova turned in rounds of 74-71-72 for her season-best 217 three-round score. Like Schaeffner, Lunackova also cared 12 birdies. She also counted a season-best 33 birdies.

Bailey Cocca, who opened the tournament with rounds of 74 and 75 on Monday, posted a 76 Tuesday to shoot her 9-over 225 score. Her final round featured three birdies, including back-to-back ones on holes eight and nine. Cocca tied for 51st overall.

Barbora Bakova rounded out the Chanticleer contingent, tying for 76th with an 18-over 224 (73-83-78). She counted five birdies, including two on her final round, during the tournament.

Coastal's next tournament is the Charleston Southern-hosted Wendy's Invitational at the Rivertowne Country Club in Mount Pleasant, S.C. The 54-hole tournament opens with 36 holes of play of Mon., Oct. 5 and concludes with a final 18 holes on Tues., Oct. 6.
