FAIRFAX, Calif. - Coastal Carolina women's golf is tied for 11th after 18 holes of play at the Bay Area Intercollegiate contested at the par-72, 6,050-yard Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
The event was shortened to 36 holes from its scheduled 54 hole after inclement weather delayed the start of Monday's first round. Moreover, the teams battled adverse weather condition, which led to three stoppages of play, during Monday's 18 holes.
The Chanticleers finished the first round of the now 36-hole event with a 309 (+21), but are just nine strokes back of fifth-place Washington (300). Oregon State leads the 13-team field with a 7-over par score of 295.
Coastal was paced during round one by Lena Schaeffner and Malene Krolboll Hansen with 4-over 76 scores. The duo are tied for 25th in the 68-competitor field. Both players each carded a birdie on the day, while Schaeffner posted 12 pars and Hansen 13.
Marie Lunackova is tied for 39th with her 6-over 78, while Barbora Bakova shot a 7-over 79 and is tied for 46th. Lunackova's round was highlighted by 13 pars. Bakova led CCU with two birdies on the day to go along with her nine pars.
Bailey Cocca is tied for 51st overall with rounds of 80 (+8) as she counted 10 pars against eight bogeys.
Coastal ranked fourth in the field with 57 total pars.
The Chants tee off on the final round of the tournament Tuesday morning.
