2016 Bay Area Intercollegiate Results 
FAIRFAX, Calif. - Sophomore Malene Krolboll Hansen carded a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to lead the Chanticleers into a tie for ninth at the weather-shortened Bay Area Intercollegiate, contested at the par-72, 6,050-yard Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.
The event was shortened to 36 holes from its scheduled 54 hole after inclement weather delayed the start of Monday's first round.
The Chanticleers concluded the tournament with rounds of 309 and 293 for a 26-over 602, tying with 48th-ranked San Francisco (302-300=602) for ninth. No. 14 California won the 13-team event with a 7-over 583 (299-284). No. 33 Colorado (296-288=584) was the runner-up followed by Oregon State (295-296=591). Indiana (304-288=592) was fourth and No. 26 BYU (303-291=594) rounded out the top five.
California's Hannah Suh, the 19th-ranked player in the nation according to Golfstat, claimed individual medalist honors with a 4-under 140 (71-69).
Hansen was part of six-way tie for eighth on the individual leaderboard with a 2-over 36-hole score of 146 (76-70). She birdied four of her first six holes on the day before posting five straight pars. She then closed her round with a three bogeys, a birdie and three pars for her 2-under 70. The par or better round was her sixth this season, while the top-10 finish was her second.
Freshman Marie Lunackova shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday to climb 20 slots up the leaderboard and tie for 19th in the 68-competitor field. She shaved six strokes off her opening round 78 for a 6-over 150 final score. Lunackova turned in four birdies and four bogeys along with 10 pars on the day. She was 1-over with three holes to play, but finished strong with a birdie and two pars.
Barbora Bakova, a junior, tied for 25th overall, carding scores of 79 and 72 for a 7-over 151. Bakova's final round was the Chants most consistent of the day as she countered two bogey with two birdies and rolled in 14 par putts. Tuesday's 72 marked her third round of par or better this season.
Lena Schaeffner placed 49th overall with an 11-over 155 (76-79). Her final round featured two birdies and 10 pars.
Bailey Cocca rounded out the Coastal contingent, placing 64th. She posted round of 80 and 79 for a 15-over 159 score. Cocca counted three birdies and seven pars during her final trek around the course.
As a team the Chanticleer carded 108 pars during the tournament and ranked second in par-5 scoring, playing the holes a combined 5-under.
The Chans return to action March 11-13 to defend their team title at the annual 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, hosted by Augusta University (formerly Augusta Stata/GRU Augusta).
