Panorama Farms Results
EARLEYSVILLE, Va. - In a preview for the NCAA Southeast Regional this coming November, Coastal Carolina's cross country teams traveled to Panorama Farms. The women's team placed sixth in the 13-team field that featured three nationally-ranked programs. On the men's side, Coastal placed 12th in a field that featured four nationally-ranked programs, including top-ranked Syracuse, #4 Stanford, #11 Virginia and #14 Brigham Young.
The women's program was led by Annie Bothma. The freshman was runner-up and finished the 5k course with a time of 17:04.5. CCU junior Aynslee van Graan also turned in an outstanding performance while her sister, Kyla, cracked the top 25.
Brigham Young, ranked 19th nationally, won the team title with 47 points. SMU was second with 89 points, followed by #16 Syracuse (98), #14 and host Virginia (129) and #3 team in the Southeast William & Mary (154). Coastal, ranked eighth in the Southeast, had 171 points to place sixth. Bucknell, #9 in the Mid-Atlantic, was seventh (186) and Clemson, #13 in the Southeast, placed eighth (192). Other teams in the Southeast Region included Charlotte (ninth, 207 pts) and #15 Appalachian State (10th, 219 pts).
William & Mary's Regan Rome won the women's race with a time of 17:01.1. Bothma was in sixth place with one kilometer to go before she kicked her way into the lead. However, Rome, an All-American that placed 25th at last year's NCAA Championship, edged Bothma down the stretch for the win.
Hannah Miller (SMU) finished six seconds behind Bothma to place third. BYU had a pair of runners -- Yesenia Silva and Erica Birk -- post the same time of 17:17.1 to finish fourth and fifth. Aynslee van Graan's time of 17:17.2 was both a personal-record and good for sixth, while Clemson's Grace Barnett was seventh with a time of 17:17.5. Kyla van Graan finished in 21st (17:48.8).
Rounding out Coastal's scoring was Alyssa LeClaire (19:05.7), Alesia Muklebust (20:01.7), Kayla Tracy (20:08.5) and Jackie Brengel (21:02.8).
On the men's side, BYU won the team title (39 points), followed by Syracuse (44), Virginia (82), Campbell (125) and Stanford (139). Coastal was 12th with 351 points.
Hutson Baumann paced the Chanticleers with a time of 25:31.9 to place 45th on the 8k course. Josh Small (26:58.3), Riaz Tyler (27:41.3), Andrew Southard (27:31.9), Dillon McConnell (28:53.1), Elijah Shaw (29:49.5) and Charles Bascom (31:27.5) completed CCU's contingent.
