Women's Golf Wins Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic

Final Results

The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team shot a 2-under 286 at the final round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic to defend their 2016 title with a one-stroke victory over the host, College of Charleston. The Chanticleers finished the tournament with a three-day total with a six-over-par 870 (289-295-286).

Barbora Bakova led the Chants on the final day shooting a career-low round four-under 68 (35-33). Her score bested her previous best round of 69 she shot during her freshman season (2013-14) at the Grizzly Invitational.

Bakova finished tied for 24th overall with a three-day total 220 (73-79-68).

Malene Krolboll Hansen shot an even-par 72 (34-38) to finish with the lowest score among the Chanticleers with a three-day total with a five-under, 211 (69-70-72). Hansen finished tied for third overall.

Stephanie Henning finished her strong showing with a one-under 71 (37-34) on the final day of the Classic. Her three day total was three-over, 219 which was a career-low tournament for her. She finished the tournament tied for 17th.

Marie Lunackova finished the day with a three-over 75 (38-37) to give her a three-day total of 234 (82-77-75), which had her finish tied for 120th.

Victoria Parker shot a five-over 77 (36-41) which gave her a total of eight-over 224 (73-74-77), which placed her tied for 39th.

Host College of Charleston's second-place total was 871 (289-303-279), which was two strokes ahead of third-place Southern Mississippi's 873 (290-303-280). East Tennessee State shot an 878 (294-297-287) which was two strokes better than fifth-place Charleston Southern's 880 (300-292-288).

Rounding out the rest of the top-10 were Jacksonville (286-310-286-882); Elon (302-301-282-885); Murray State (302-297-286-885); Delaware (298-296-299-893) and Bethune-Cookman (304-306-285-895).

The Chanticleers will travel cross-country for their next event. March 6-7 they will play at the Bay Area Intercollegiate which will be played in Fairfax, Calif., at the Meadow Golf Club. The event will be hosted by University San Francisco and San Jose State University.
