Sunny Sigurvinsdottir hit the first goal of the game to lead the Chanticleers to a 2-0 victory over the Georgia State Panthers in Conway on Friday night. The win improved the Chants record to 5-6-2 overall on the season and 3-2-1 in Sun Belt play while the Panthers fell to 4-7-2 overall and 1-3-1 in conference action.

The second period opened with the Chants having possession and looking for the go-ahead goal, with both teams trading possessions and getting some action in the attacking half of their field.
The Panthers had the first solid look at a goal when Jimena Hall fired a shot forcing the CCU goalkeeper
Rylee Atteberry to make a diving save to keep Georgia State off the scoreboard in the 48th minute.
Senior
Hannah Miller followed up with the Chanticleers' first opportunity in the second period forcing the Panther goalkeeper to make the save.
In the 77th minute, Sigurvinsdottir gathered a blocked Miller shot just outside the box. The Selfoss, Iceland native, then dribbled around a defender and with her left foot blasted a shot that sailed just over the outstretched arms of the Panther goalkeeper to give CCU a 1-0 advantage and score what would prove to be the eventual game-winning goal.
Miller followed in the 81st minute with her fifth goal of the season. The Lenexa, Kan. native, intercepted a Georgia State pass and wove her way through the defense to get the score in the upper right quarter of the goal for the 2-0 Chanticleer lead.
On the night, CCU outshot the Panthers 16-8 overall while holding a slight 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Coastal will return to action on Sunday when the Sun Belt's leader South Alabama pays a visit to Conway. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
