Women's Golf Finishes Second at Palmetto Intercollegiate; Closes Fall Schedule with Best Finish

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team shot two-over 290 in today's final round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate to finish second, one shot behind tournament host College of Charleston.
 
The Chants entered the day tied for the lead after two rounds, but the Cougars overtook the Chants with their three-under on the day's final round, which was the best round of the day.
 
CCU's three-day total was 865 (295-280-290). The Chants' one-over score and second-place finish were the best score and finish of the fall season as the young Chants got better each outing.
 
While Jenjira Jinangkul shot a two-over in today's round, she finished the event as the Chants top finisher. She shot a four-under 212 (71-67-74), which was her career-best and tied for the fourth-best score in CCU history. Her fourth-place finish also tied her career-best score last season at the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
 
Tiffany Arafi also had a top-10 finish with her one-under 213 (72-68-73) score. She finished tied for seventh overall which was her best finish in her career, while her 213 total was also a career-best.
 
Caitlin Evans-Brand had another solid tournament finishing tied for 19th. Following her even-par score today she finished with a two-over 218 (75-71-72).
 
Heidrun Hylnsdotter was the lone Chant to shoot under-par in today's round as she finished one-under with a 36 on the front nine and a 35 on the back. It was the best round of the tournament for her placing her in a tie for 42nd at seven-over 223 (78-74-71).
 
Sophia Carlsen finished her tournament with an eight-over 80 in today's round. She shot a 242 (77-85-80) in the final event of the fall.
 
The College of Charleston's winning score was a even-par 864, followed by CCU's 865. Old Dominion and Fresno State were tied for third at six-over 870, while North Florida rounded out the top five with an eight-over 872 finish.
 
CCU will now begin preparations for the spring portion of their schedule which will begin at the Moon Golf Invitational scheduled for Feb. 17-18 at the Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Fla. The event will be hosted by the University of Florida.
