Opening Round Results (pdf)
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's golf team shot a 2-under 286 during today's first round of the 2019 Kiawah Island Spring Classic and will head into the second round with a 2-stroke lead.
The sister duo of
Marie Lunackova and
Frantiska Lunackova led the Chanticleers with Marie shooting a 2-under 70 (35-35) during the opening round. Her younger sister Frantiska was just behind with a 1-under 71 (34-37).
Tiffany Arafi shot an even par 72 (35-37) with
Jenjira Jinangkul shooting a 1-over 73 (37-36).
Stephanie Henning had a solid outing with a 3-over 75 (38-37) in the opening round.
CCU holds its 2-stroke lead over Delaware who finished with an even par 288. Tulsa and Stetson are only four strokes back of the Chanticleers at 2-over (290).
Rounding out the top five scoring teams in the 48-team field are South Florida and host College of Charleston. Both teams finished the opening round with 3-over 291's.
Three of the Chants finished the opening round among the top-20 players in the classic.
Marie Lunackova is tied for fifth place with sister Frantiska tied for 10
th. Arafi is tied for 17
th to round out the top-20 players for CCU.
Jinangkul will enter the second day of action tied for 36
th and Henning is tied for 73
rd.
The Chanticleers opened the three-day event on the par 72, 5,964 yards Osprey Point Golf Club. Tomorrow's second round will be played at the Oak Point Golf Club (par-72, 5,941 yards) and the Chants are scheduled to tee off at 1:30 p.m.
