BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's golf team opened play at the Bryan National Collegiate with 21-over 309 on Friday.
The 6,305-yard long Bryan Parks Champions Course was tough on all 17 teams as only two teams finished the course under-par on the first round.
Marie Lunackova's 3-over 77 (38-37) was the best round of the day for the Chanticleers. She tuned in a scorecard that had five bogeys and two birdies. She will begin tomorrow's second round tied for 38
th.
Two Chants played the course in 5-over fashion.
Alexandra Naumovski, playing in her second spring event, shot a 77 (40-37) and fellow freshman
Tiffany Arafi also finished 5-over (39-38). Naumovski led the team in birdies with three. Both players are tied for 57
th – place overall.
Jenjira Jinangkul shot an 8-over 80 (40-40) and
Frantiska Lunackova shot a 9-over 81 (42-39). Jinangkul will begin tomorrow's action tied for 78th while Lunackova is 84
th.
The Chants finished the first day of action in 14
th - place, with only 11 strokes separating teams eight thru 14. Wake Forest is the first round leader after carding a 14-under 274. They lead the field by 11 strokes which has North Carolina State second after shooting a 3-under 285.
North Carolina and Virginia are tied for third after both teams finished with identical scores of 3-over 29 while Charlotte rounds out the top-five after shooting a 4-over 292.
