First Day Results
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Coastal Carolina women's golf team shot a 10-over 586 (297-289) on the first day of competition at the Gunrock Invitational and will head into tomorrow's final round in second place.
The first day of competition saw the teams play 36 holes and CCU's
Marie Lunackova led the Chants with a 2-under 142 (72-70) Her two rounds consisted of five birdies and three bogeys and she will enter the final round of action among the Invite leaders tied for third.
Freshman
Tiffany Arafi shot a 4-over 76 in her first round, but turned around in the afternoon to shoot an even-par 72. She stands tied for 19
th with a 4-over 148.
Jenjira Jinangkul did not start the second round like she would have liked, shooting a 5-over 41 and after another bogey on the 10
th hole, she was 6-over par with eight holes left to play. From there she would go on to birdie four of those holes, including three of the final four. She finished the second round with a 2-over 74 and finished the day with a 5-over 149 (75-74). She is tied for 25
th heading into the third round.
Stephanie Henning and
Frantiska Lunackova both finished the first two rounds 5-over. Henning picked up her 149 with a 4-over 76 in the first round, but rebounded nicely with a 1-over 73 in the afternoon round. Frantiska had a 74-75 to pick up her score and both players are tied with teammate Jinangkul at 25
th heading into tomorrow's action.
CCU only trails Sacramento State who shot a stellar 7-under 569 (281-288). Rounding out the top five after CCU are UC Davis who is one shot back of CCU with an 11-over 587 (196-291). 44
th ranked California is fourth at 12-over 588 (298-290) and standing fifth after day one is Nevada at 19-over after carding a 595 (300-295).
The third and final round of the Gunrock Invite will start at 8:30 a.m. local time.
