DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Coastal Carolina University shot a 15-over 303 in today's opening round of the 2019 Sun Belt Women's Golf Championship. The Chanticleers finished the day tied for sixth.
Jenjira Jinangkul had the low score for CCU with a 2-over 74 (36-38). She opened the event with 10 consecutive pars. With her score, the freshman will enter tomorrow's second round tied for 15
th.
Marie Lunackova and
Tiffany Arafi both finished today's action with a 3-over 75. Both players picked up their score by opening the day with a 38 on the front nine and concluded the action with a 37 on the last nine holes. They will move into the second round tied for 18
th.
Frantiska Lunackova and
Alexandra Naumovski finished with 7-over 79's. Lunackova picked up her score shooting a 40 on the front nine and 39 on the back. Naumovske had just the opposite, shooting a 39 on the front and 40 on the back. Both are tied for 37
th.
CCU is tied with Appalachian State, who also shot a 303. They are 13-strokes back of Texas State who shot a 2-over 290 in the first day of action.
Rounding out the top five are Troy and Georgia Southern, tied for second with a 3-over 291. South Alabama is fourth after carding a 7-over 295 and Arkansas State is just behind after shooting an 11-over 299.
Louisiana Monroe is behind CCU with a 310 with Little Rock and Texas Arlington tied for ninth after shooting a 311. Georgia State shot a 315 in today's opening round.
Tomorrow's second round of action is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. with the Chanticleers scheduled to tee off at 8:40 from the 10
th tee.
