SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team completed their first day of play at the Terrier Invitational as the first and second rounds were played during today's action.
Frantiska Lunackove continued her solid play in the fall finishing the first two rounds tied for fifth-place, only four shots out of first. She started the day shooting a two-over 74 in the morning round and followed that with another 74 in the afternoon 18 to finish with her four-over 148. She shot a 36 on the back nine in the afternoon session, which was the best nine holes by the team on the day.
Sophia Carlsen also finished day one of the invite with a top-10 finish. The sophomore shot a seven-over 151 and will enter tomorrow's third round tied for eighth. Carlsen shot a 78 in the morning round but was vastly improved in the afternoon shooting a one-over 73, the best round of the day for any of the CCU golfers.
First-year team member Maika Llarena had her ups and downs in her first collegiate tournament. She opened the day with a six-over 78 in the morning round but struggled in the afternoon with an 89. She finished the first two rounds with a 167 and in a tie for 28th position.
