FOLEY, Ala. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer season came to an end in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship after falling to Louisiana 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Foley, Ala.
Despite outshooting the Ragin' Cajuns 15-10, the Chants could not find the back of the net as Louisiana's Lauryn Starwood was outstanding in the net stopping eight CCU shots.
Louisiana scored its' first goal in the 30th minute of the first half when Hailey Hoffman headed in a free kick from Gwen Mummert for the first goal of the match.
That score held up until halftime as CCU had seven first half shots compared to five for Louisiana.
In the second half, the Ragin' Cajuns scored their second goal off an assist from Grace Champagne which My Smith was able to put into the net for the 2-0 lead. UL added one more goal with a little under 20 minutes to play as Alyssa Abbott found the net on a double assist from Rachel Sutter and Demi McCalliog.
CCU (6-5) finished the match with 15 shots, including eight of those on goal. Louisiana (9-4-1) finished with 10 shots and five on goal.
Mackenzie Gibbs led CCU with four shots while
Kamryn Nobles added three. CCU got single shots from eight other players.
