MACON, Ga. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team opened play today at the Mercer Invitational being played in Macon, Ga., at the Brickyard Golf Course.
It was a tough day on the course for all participants as only two players finished under par.
Sophia Carlsen was the top finisher for the Chanticleers shooting a seven-over 151 (78-73). The day did not start well for Carlsen as she was six-over after her first six holes, but she settled down over the rest of the first and second rounds to shoot a one-over for the next 30 holes and is tied for 18th after the first and second rounds.
Heidrun Hlynsdottir started off even par through the first eight holes, but finished the first two rounds with a 10-over 154 (75-79). She will go into tomorrow's final round tied for 26th.
Frantiska Lunackova struggled all day. She shot a 20-over 164 (80-84), but did end the day with five consecutive pars, hoping that will lead into a better showing during tomorrow's final round. She is tied for 49th after today's action.
