ATLANTA – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team started the season off in impressive fashion with a 4-2 win at Georgia State.
After spotting the Panthers to a 1-0 score just six minutes into the match, the Chanticleers scored four consecutive goals, including three in just over three minutes to lead CCU to the season-opening win.
Four different Chanticleers scored goals with
Loranna Austin getting the scoring started with a goal at the 12 minute mark on a pass from
Megan Brouse to even the score.
Just 87 seconds later
Alicia Hansson gave the Chants a lead they would never relinquish.
Sunny Sigurvinsdottir picked up her first assist of the match.
Sigurvinsdottir picked up her second assist when she found Brouse at the 15:15 mark to put CCU up 3-1, which was enough goals for the Chants.
Mackenzie Cherry added an unassisted goal with just over 11 minutes left in the opening half to end the scoring in the first half and was the final goal of the match for the Chants.
The Panthers added a single goal in the second half on a Kelsee Holloway goal in the 76
th minute.
Ky Hudson had the start in the goal for CCU and added seven saves in her 90 minutes of action.
Coastal will be home for its next match when they will host South Alabama Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m.
