WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis doubles pair of Mathilde Tranberg and Isabella Weatherhead advanced to the championship match in doubles play of the Main B Draw to highlight the Chanticleers' second day of the ITA Carolina Regional Championships on Friday.

In the semifinal round of the draw, Tranberg and Weatherhead picked up an 8-4 victory over Sarah Allen and Shauna Galvin from Elon to advance to the finals of the Main B Draw in doubles play.

Weatherhead would follow in the afternoon session by upsetting the No. 4 seed Linden Patterson of Davidson in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to move on in the consolation bracket of the B1 singles draw after following to Alexandra Anttila of Clemson 6-3, 6-1 in the second round of the B1 Main Draw.

Also competing for the Chants in singles action on Friday were Paola Landin Lopez   Megan Hopton, Jesse Hollins, and Victoire De Samucewicz.

Lopez picked up a win in her singles draw earning a straight-set 6-3, 6-0 win over Courtney Fyvie of Gardner-Webb in the second round and then followed with an upset in her third-round match defeating the No. 3 seed Julia Abrams of NC State 7-5, 6-1 to move on to the quarterfinals of the B1 Main Draw.

Hollins, who is also playing in the B1 Main Draw, earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Galvin of Elon in the second round to advance to the third round.

Hopton fell in the first round of the Main A2 Draw to Sibel Tank of Elon 6-1, 6-1 and then suffered a 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 loss to Anna Daniel of UNC Wilmington in the first round of the consolation bracket.

De Samucewicz also dropped both of her matches on Friday in the Main A1 Draw, as she battled in a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 loss in round one to Margaryta Bilokin of Duke and then fell in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 to Kseniia Aleshina of Appalachian State in the consolation bracket.

The Chants will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 23, as Tranberg and Weatherhead will play on the championship court in the B1 Doubles Draw, while Hollins and Lopez will continue in the B1 Singles draw. Weatherhead will continue in the quarterfinal round of the B1 singles draw consolation bracket.
