CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team opened up the College of Charleston Halloween Invitational on Friday and was led by sophomore
Mathilde Tranberg who won two matches on the day.
The Chanticleers started the day with doubles action where Tranberg team up with Amila Jusufbegovic of Charleston Southern to defeat the Samford doubles pair of Ally Hayduk and Lauren Waddles 6-4.
The Coastal duo of
Megan Hopton and
Jesse Hollins suffered a 6-4 setback to Madi Ballow and Sophia Hurrion of Marshall in doubles play, while the team of
Paola Landin Lopez and
Victoire De Samucewicz dropped their match to Emma Vanderheyden and Liz Stefanic of Marshall 6-0.
In the afternoon session, the Chants battled the Samford Bulldogs. CCU got wins from Hollins who defeated Hayduk 7-6 (5), 2-6, 7-5 in a very tight match, while Tranberg earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Alexis Lopez.
The Chanticleers will be back in action tomorrow for day two in Charleston.
