CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team posted five wins over the Wofford Terriers on the final day of the College of Charleston Team Invite on Sunday, Oct. 3.
In doubles action, the duo of
Bastien Huon and
Carlos Berna Ruiz lead the way and earned a 6-3 victory over Ashe Ray and Mark Endler on court No. 2. On court No. 1,
Diego Giraldo and
Federico Garnier held on for a 7-6 decision over Callum Rendle and Bryce Keim from Wofford.
In singles play, the Chanticleers super senior Huon defeated Ray of the Terriers 6-2, 6-1, while fellow super senior Garnier earned a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Will Fullett. The third singles win on the day game from sophomore
Guilherme Toresan who beat Keim in three sets at 7-5, 4-6, 11-9 to cap off the day.
"All in all, it was a good weekend for the guys. Our doubles were very solid and I hope this is an indication of good things to come this season," stated head coach
Chris Powers. "For a first competition, a lot of the players competed very well. That being said, we need more match play and I am excited that there is a short turnaround before we play again next week."
The Chanticleers hope to host the CCU Team Invite on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 7-8, at South Carolina State University as the courts at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex are being resurfaced.
