Greensboro, N.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team came from behind to pick up a 4-3 regional win on Friday afternoon against UNC Greensboro. Coastal improved to 6-4 with the win while the Spartans slipped to 1-10 overall with the defeat.
 
The Spartans got off to an early lead as the home team captured the doubles point on court one with a 6-3 win. Coastal responded with the doubles pair of Neil O'Connor and Guilherme Toresan defeating the duo of Eric Whisnant and Cooper Wyett 6-3 on court three. On court two, the Spartans picked up a 6-4 win which secured the doubles point for the home team.
 
The Spartans extended their lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set decision on court two. Daiki Tanabe would get the Chants on the board first with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Roger Rogowski at No. 5 to cut the Spartans' lead in half at 2-1.
 
It was then nationally-ranked Bastien Huon evened the match at 2-2 with a 7-6, 6-1 decision at the top court over Ollie Palmer.
 
Coastal would take its first lead of the dual with a 6-1, 7-6 win on court six by O'Connor over Wyett of the Spartans. The Spartans then would steal a point on court four to have the match come down to the final match.
 
The Chants would get the match clincher from Diego Giraldo (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) who rallied from a second set loss to dominate the third set and give the Chants the 4-3 match win.
 
Coastal will stay on the road and head to Winston-Salem, N.C where the Chants will battle the No. 14 nationally-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons on April 4 with a first serve scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET.
