PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team fell to the Georgia Southern Eagles in a 4-3 nail-biter on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Sun Belt Men's Tennis Championship in Peachtree City, Ga.

Coastal's season ends at 8-9 as the Eagles improve to 12-9 and move on to the semifinals with the win.

Georgia Southern would get on the board first as the Eagles would secure the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to put the Eagles up 1-0. CCU's team of Juan Castellanos and Guilherme Toresan would win 6-1 at No. 3.

The Chants would tie the match at 1-1 with a win at the No. 1 singles spot from Bastien Huon as he defeated the Eagles' Pascal Wagemaker in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Coastal would pull ahead 2-1 with a 6-3, 7-5 win on court two from Diego Giraldo as he defeated Alexanderos Roumpis of the Eagles. 

However, the Eagles would storm back to take a 3-2 lead in the match as Jonathan Morales defeated Neil O'Connor of the Chants 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 at No. 6, while Murphy McCullough of the Eagles would follow with a 7-5, 6-3 straight-set win over Pyry Hyrkkonen at No. 2.

CCU's Gonzalo Achondo would win 3-6, 6-1, 7-5 after coming back from a first set defeat on court No. 4 to tie the match up at 3-3 with one bout remaining.

The Eagles would get the final point from Valentin Dun as he held on to defeat Daiki Tanabe in three sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-4  to give Georgia Southern the 4-3 match win.
