CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's tennis team fell to Sun Belt Conference member South Alabama 4-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Lynn Stevens Tennis Complex in Conway, S.C. 

Coastal slips to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in Sun Belt Conference play with the loss while South Alabama improves to 11-4 and 6-0 in SBC with the win. 

The loss snaps the Chanticleers' home-winning streak at 11-straight dual matches dating back to the 2020 spring season.

The Chanticleers picked up the doubles point as the senior duo of Somer Dalla-Bona and Jessie Mount defeated the team of Cami Moreno and Yurie Takanishi 6-1 at the number one position while the number two team of Victoire De Samucewicz and Jesse Hollins won 7-6 over the Jaguars' Nikola Kohoutova and Yu Fujioka.  

In singles play, Hollins defeated the Jaguars' Aina Domingo-Bernabeu 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 6 singles spot to give the home team the 2-0 lead.

The Jaguars would respond with a 6-3, 6-0 win on court five and added a win by retirement on court number two to even the match at 2-2.

South Alabama would take its first lead of the afternoon as Fujioka earned a 6-4, 7-5 decision on court one.

The Jaguars would get the match clincher from Moreno on court four by a similar score of 6-4, 6-4.

The final match went unfinished once South Alabama earned the four points for the victory.

Coastal will be back in action tomorrow, April 4, as the Chants will host Troy with first serve scheduled for 10 a.m. ET from the Stevens Tennis Complex.
