Women's Golf Stands 13th After Two Rounds at NCAA Columbus Regional

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Coastal Carolina women's golf team shot a 25-over 313 during Tuesday's second round of the 2021 Women's Golf Columbus Regional and stands in 13th place with a 35-over 611 (298-313) at the Ohio State Golf Club Scarlet Course.

Already considered one of the toughest courses in the 2021 NCAA Women's Golf Regional field, the weather played even more havoc on all the golf teams in today's action as only one of the programs was able to play the round in even-par fashion.

The Chants fell victim to the course conditions early and were unable to get any consistency going throughout the round.

Senior Frantiska Lunackova once again had a solid performance with a team-best three-over 75. After two rounds, she is the Chants' leader on the scoreboard with a five-over 149 (74-75). She will head into the final round tied at No. 20.

Tiffany Arafi shot a five-over 77 to match her opening-day score. After shooting a 39 on the first nine, she was able to play one stroke better on the back nine with a 38. Her two-day total 154 (77-77) has her 10-over and in a tie for 49th heading into the third round.

Sophia Carlsen could not get anything going today. Heading into today's round at one-under, the sophomore finished the day with an 83, shooting 39 on the first nine holes and 44 on the second nine. She is even with Arafi at No. 49 with a 10-over 154 (71-83) after two rounds of play.

Caitlin Evans-Brand and Nicole Abelar also fell victim to the conditions during today's action with Evans-Brand shooting an 80 (41-39) and Abelar finishing with an 81 (42-39). Both players are tied at No.68 with a 13-over 157.

There was plenty of movement at the top of the regional leaderboard as the top six teams will advance on to the NCAA Championship. Georgia made the jump up three spots to take over the top spot after being the only team to shoot even-par in today's round. They lead the event with a one-over 577 (289-288).

Michigan moved up one spot and is second with an eight-over 584 (288-296) and top-seeded Duke is third with a nine-over 585 (287-298).

Rounding out the top six are Kent State with a 13-over 589 (291-298), Arizona State at 16-over 592 (291-301), and Kentucky, which made the largest move of the day. The Wildcats jumped five spots into the sixth spot with a 17-over 593 (298-295).

Tomorrow's third and final round action is set to tee off at 8 a.m. ET with the Chanticleers scheduled to tee off hole No. 10 at 10 a.m. ET. Live stats will be available at www.GoCCUSports.com.
