CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will conclude its 2021 regular-season schedule with a three-game Sun Belt Conference series at home versus Texas State on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 20-22.

All three games will be video streamed live on ESPN+ and will be broadcasted live on WRNN Hot Talk 99.5 FM.

SCHEDULE
• Game 1 – Thursday, May 20 at 6 p.m. ET
• Game 2 – Friday, May 21 at 6 p.m. ET
• Game 3 – Saturday, May 22 at 2 p.m. ET

CHARTING THE CHANTS
• Coastal Carolina enters the final three games of the 2021 regular season at 23-23 overall and 6-12 in Sun Belt Conference play.
• The Chants are just 4-6 over their last 10 games and just 12-11 at home this season.
• However, Coastal is coming off a 14-9 midweek home win over Wake Forest (May 18) on Tuesday night, where the 14 runs and 14 base hits were both the second-most in a single game for the Chanticleers this season.
• Offensively, the Chants are hitting .247 as a team with 53 home runs, 12 triples, 73 doubles, 245 RBIs, and 266 runs scored.
• The pitching staff has posted a 4.81 ERA overall as a team and has struck out 385 batters over 408.0 innings pitched on the season.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS
• Texas State enters the final weekend of play at 21-31 overall and 9-12 in league play.
• The Bobcats have dropped four-straight contests entering the weekend and are coming off a three-game home series in which they were swept by Georgia State.
• On the road this season, the Bobcats are just 5-14 overall with two of those wins coming at Troy (April 9-11) and at Louisiana (April 30-May 1) in Sun Belt action.
• Texas State as a team is hitting .250 on the season with 48 home runs, 13 triples, 87 doubles, 230 RBIs, and 255 runs scored.
• The pitching staff has a 5.26 ERA on the year but has struck out 417 batters over 451.1 innings pitched.

ALL-TIME SERIES
• Coastal Carolina holds a slight 5-3 advantage over Texas State in the all-time series history and has won each of the last four meetings between the two teams.
• The two teams first met in 2017, as the Chanticleers traveled to Texas State for their first-ever Sun Belt Conference series.
• The Chanticleers are a perfect 4-0 versus the Bobcats at home inside Springs Brooks Stadium having swept the three-game series over Texas State in 2018 and then defeating the top-seeded Bobcats 13-4 in the 2019 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament held in Conway, S.C.

PRESEASON FAVORITES
• This weekend's matchup features the two teams that were picked by the Sun Belt's head coaches as the preseason favorites to win their respective divisions.
• Coastal was picked to win the East Division, garnering 10 first-place votes and a total of 69 points overall.
• The Bobcats were predicted to win the West Division, picking up six first-place votes and a total of 65 points overall.

TRYING TO AVOID HISTORY
• Coastal Carolina enters the weekend of play versus Texas State at .500 on the season at 23-23 overall.
• With three regular-season games and two guaranteed games in the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament next week in Montgomery, Ala., the Chanticleers will look to finish the season out strong to avoid making history.
• The Chants have not finished below .500 overall on the season since going 24-33 in 2014 and have only finished below .500 just three times in 25 seasons under head coach Gary Gilmore (1996 - 24-29; 1997 - 23-31; 2024 - 24-33).

#14 CHASING 1000
• CCU head coach Gary Gilmore enters the final regular-season three-game series with 997 career wins as the head coach of his alma mater Coastal Carolina.
• That puts #14 just three wins away from 1,000 career wins over his 26 years at CCU.
• The hall-of-fame skipper picked up his 1,250th career win versus Wake Forest (May 18) on Tuesday night.

FINALLY HOME
• Coastal enjoyed #ThePalace for the first part of the season, as the Chanticleers played 15 of their first 19 games at home in Springs Brooks Stadium, going 10-5 at home during that span.
• However, since March 23, a home win over the College of Charleston, the Chants have played just eight games at Springs Brooks Stadium in the three-game weekend series versus Georgia Southern (April 16-18), a Tuesday night midweek tilt versus UNCW (April 27), another three-game weekend series versus Troy (May 7-9), and earlier this week versus Wake Forest (May 18).
• Since the 2015 season, Coastal has recorded 20 wins or more at home each year, outside of last year's shortened season, and has tallied 145 wins at Springs Brooks Stadium counting this year.
• This season, the Chanticleers are just 12-11 at home entering the final home series of the regular season this weekend versus Texas State (May 20-22).

AGAINST THE SUN BELT WEST DIVISION
• The Chanticleers enter the three-game series versus Texas State (May 20-22) having played two other West Division teams, both on the road.
• Coastal is 2-4 overall versus the Sun Belt West Division this season having gone 1-2 on the road at both Louisiana (March 26-28) and at UT Arlington (April 10-12).

CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT LOOMING
• With the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament set to start next week, May 25-30, this final weekend of the regular-season standings will determine the seedings heading into pool play.
• CCU is locked in the No. 6 seed in the East Division UNLESS the Chanticleers sweep Texas State AND Georgia State loses all three games versus Little Rock.
• Texas State enters the series at Coastal Carolina in a three-way tie with ULM and Arkansas State at 9-12 in conference play. The Bobcats holds the tiebreaker over both ULM and Arkansas State having won both series 2-1 and with a series sweep of Coastal could jump all the way to the No. 2 seed in the West Division with series losses by both Louisiana and Little Rock.
