Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at Paladin Invite

Arafi finishes fourth overall

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women's golf team shot a two-over 292 in Sunday's final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational, finishing fourth overall with a 10-over 874 (292-290-292).

Tiffany Arafi started the final round in fourth place overall and finished that way after shooting a one-under 71 in Sunday's final 18. She had three birdies on the day along with two bogeys while finishing under par in two of the three rounds. She finished with a three-under 213 (72-70-71). The 213 equals her career-best score which she shot in 2019 at the Palmetto Intercollegiate.

Freshman Sara Sarrion finished tied for 19th after shooting a three over 75 in the final round. She was the next high scorer for CCU and finished her first collegiate tournament with a four-over 220 (73-72-75).

Jenjira Jinangkul made a successful return to the course after missing all of last season. She shot a two-over 74 in today's action and finished tied for 22nd with a six-over 222 (74-74-74).

The reigning Sun Belt Conference champion, Sophia Carlsen, also had a solid tournament after shooting a four-over 76. She finished one stroke back of Jinangkul with a seven-over 223 (73-74-76) to finish tied for 27th.

Caitlin Evans-Brand had her best 18-hole score of the tournament, and second-best among the Chanticleers with her even-par 72. She finished tied for 39th with an 11-over 227 (77-78-72).

Freshman Isabella Spinazze also had her best round of the event after carding a six-over 78 in today's action. She finished 69th with a 26-over 242 (82-82-78).

"It was not the finish we were looking for, but it was an overall great start to the fall season," head coach Katie Quinney said. "We had some solid play and we can't wait to hit the road next week and keep competing."

Host Furman University used playing on their home course to their advantage winning the event with a Lady Paladin Invitational-record 23-under 841. The Paladins shattered the old record which was set in 2016 when Texas shot a 11-under 853.

North Florida and Augusta finished tied for second after finishing at nine-over 873. The Chants were just one stroke behind and James Madison rounded out the top-five with a 15-over 879>

Sun Belt Conference foe Georgia Southern and Western Kentucky started off the second five after both finished with a 20-over 884. UNCW (+27, 891), Stetson (+33, 897), and Memphis (+35, 899) finished off the top-10.

Finishing the field were Florida Gulf Coast (+44, 908), Wofford (+50, 914), and Daytona State College (+75, 939).

CCU will be back in action Oct. 3-5 at the Princess Anne Invitational hosted by Old Dominion University in Virginia Beach, Va.
