VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team finished 12th overall at the Evie Odom Invitational after completing play with a 54-hole team score of +33, 873 at the Princess Anne Golf Club.
After struggling early in the invitational,
Tiffany Arafi shot a five-under 65 on the par-70, 5,824-yard Princess Anne course on Sunday. She carded six birdies and only one bogey in Sunday's final round to finish the event tied for 18th with a five-over 215 (79-71-65). Her 65 is tied for the second-best 18-hole score in program history.
Luisa Gibson finished with an eight-over 218 (79-70-69) and was one-under during the second and third rounds before finishing tied for 33rd.
Sara Sarrion finished tied for 53rd after carding a 12-over 222 (77-71-74).
Sophia Carlsen finished tied for 61st with a 15-over 225 (74-75-76), while
Maika Llarena finished tied for 68th with an 18-over 228 (75-80-73).
The College of Charleston (+3, 843) held off Minnesota (+5, 845) for the two-stroke win. Minnesota had the round of the invitational, moving up six spots after going 17-under in the third round before coming up two strokes short. South Florida (+12, 852) was third, with Sacramento State (+13, 853) and Penn State (+17, 857) rounding out the top five.
James Madison (+18, 858) finished sixth, followed by East Carolina (+19, 859), Princeton (+25, 865), Middle Tennessee State (+26, 866), and Indiana (+30, 870).
Old Dominion (+32, 872) finished one shot ahead of the Chants (+33, 873), while North Florida (+42, 882), Charlotte (+49, 889), and High Point (+54, 894) completed the field.
The Chants will be back in action for the final match of the fall at the Olde Stone Intercollegiate scheduled for Oct. 24-25 at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky.
