MOBILE, Ala. – The Coastal Carolina women's soccer team went on the road to face South Alabama and fell to the Jaguars 2-0 Sunday afternoon in Mobile, Ala.
The Chanticleers moved to 2-10-4 overall and 1-6-2 in SBC play, while the Jaguars moved to 10-1-6 overall and remained undefeated in league action at 6-0-3.
After a scoreless first half, the Jags did not wait long to find the back of the net in the second half, as Imane Addi picked up an unassisted goal in the 49th minute. Sydney Ham added to USA's one-goal lead with her finish in the 57th minute on an assist from Morgan Cross.
While the Chants kept it close throughout the match, the Jags were on the offensive attack for most of the match finishing with 26 shots, 15 of which were on frame. CCU could manage only two shots for the match with one of those on goal.
The Jags' defense did a solid job on CCU's leading scorer
Megan Brouse, who only played 28 minutes and did not have a shot.
Julia Ziegenfuss had both of CCU's shots, which included the only shot on goal for the Chants.
Katelyn Kellogg had an outstanding match in goal for CCU, finishing the day with 13 saves, which is tied for the second-most saves in a single match in CCU history. She is tied with Candice Doten, who picked up 13 saves against UNCW back in 2001.
The 13 total saves are also tied for the second-most in a single match for the Chanticleers as a team, which was also the total amount against UNCW in 2001.
The Chants will return to action for the regular-season finale when they host ULM on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. ET.
