JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team got the 2021-22 spring season underway Monday at the Sea Best Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Fla., at the San Jose Country Club, as play was halted in the second round due to darkness with the Chanticleers setting in sixth place at 40-over par.
It was a day in which the par-72, 6,336-yard course played extremely tough as none of the teams stood any better than 22-over par and only three individual players were under par.
CCU shot a 26-over 314 in the opening round, standing sixth after 18 holes. The Chanticleers maintained that sixth place standing with only three holes left in the second round and was 14-over par in the second 18 holes when play was halted.
Caitlin Evans-Brand led the opening day with a four-over 76 in the opening round. She is presently tied for ninth place at six-over heading into the final 21 holes in tomorrow's round.

Sophia Carlsen shot a five-over 77 in the opening round and when play was halted was tied for 12th at 12-over.
Tiffany Arafi opened the event with an eight-over 80 in the round while
Sara Sarrion shot a nine-over 81, and
Jenjira Jinangkul finished the round with a 16-over 88.
Heading into play tomorrow Campbell leads the 18-team tournament at 22-over after opening play with a 312 in the first round. Seminole State (309) is 10-strokes back, leading three teams with a 32-over score, after shooting a first-round best 309 to open play.
Other teams tied at 32-over are USC Upstate (311) and East Carolina (316). One spot in front of CCU is Lipscomb (310) at 35-over.
Rounding out the top-10 behind CCU is FIU (317) at 44-over, Houston Baptist (310) at 47-over, Charleston Southern (319) at 48-over, and host Jacksonville (314) at 54-over.
Georgetown (331) and UNCG (329) are even at 61-over, with Navy (320) just three strokes back at 64-over. Cincinnati (331) is 14th at 69-over par and Butler (335) is 15th at 77-over par.
Finalizing the field are Tennessee Tech (335) at 83-over, Dixie State (336) at 84-over, and Towson (344) at 85-over par.
