BUIES CREEK, N.C. – In a regional showdown, the Coastal Carolina men's tennis team clashed with the Campbell Camels on Friday afternoon. The Chants fell behind early but rallied late to pick up an exhilarating 4-3 victory.
 
The Camels jumped ahead by winning doubles matches in the first two flights, but it wasn't long before CCU responded.
 
No. 116 Bastien Huon put the men in teal on the board with a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set win over Damien Nezar in the top flight.  Federico Garnier followed that with a 6-3, 6-4 win of his own over Pol Otin, which tied the match at two.
 
"Great job from the guys fighting back into the match and coming out on top," exclaimed CCU assistant coach Liam Fraboulet.  "We showed what kind of team we are today and what we are capable of.  Credit to the guys for putting it all out there and battling to get this win!"
 
On court three, Diego Giraldo won a three-set barn burner over Robin Angles 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 to put the Chants ahead.  It all came down to court five to decide the match, where Daiki Tanabe faced off against Benjamin Maes.  Tanabe dropped the first set but came back even stronger, defeating Maes 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1 to secure the victory for Coastal Carolina.
 
The Chanticleers will now head towards Durham for a matchup against the Duke Blue Devils (5-3 overall) on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. ET.
