Chants Fall at Home to Presbyterian

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina men's tennis team continued their homestand on Friday afternoon with a clash against a familiar foe in the form of Presbyterian College.  In the end, the Chants dropped a 4-3 decision to the Blue Hose.
 
Presbyterian (11-7) claimed the doubles point with victories in two of the three matches.  On court two, Federico Garnier and Diego Giraldo doubled up Nicholas McKinney and Teo Cariov by a 6-3 tally for the Chants' lone doubles victory.
 
The Chants answered back in singles action with three straight wins.  Bastien Huon kickstarted the rally in the top flight with a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set victory over Max Benson, pulling CCU even at one-all.  On court five, Daiki Tanabe put the Chants in the lead with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over McKinney.  Moments later on court six, Neil O'Connor notched a 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) win, which made a 3-1 advantage for the men in teal.
 
However, the Blue Hose assembled a rally of their own, winning the last three matches on courts two, three, and four, respectively, to claim the overall match victory.
 
Next up for the Chants (7-8) is a 10 a.m. ET home match on Sunday, March 20, against Sun Belt opponent UT Arlington.
