CONWAY, S.C. – Coming off the heels of a tough loss less than 24 hours ago, the Coastal Carolina women's tennis team aimed to rebound in a Sun Belt Conference tilt against the Texas State Bobcats.  The Chants fell behind early but answered quickly en route to a 5-2 victory.
 
The visiting Bobcats (4-9, 1-2 SBC) struck first by winning two out of three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead.  The tandem of Anna Babayan and Megan Hopton played well on court three and earned a 6-4 win over Sofia Fortuno and Kylee Shannon.
 
CCU fought back when the match moved to singles play.  Jesse Hollins rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jadeh Chan on court six, which tied the match at one-all.  Babayan followed that with a 6-2, 6-0 win of her own on court five, which made it a 2-1 lead for the home side.  A few moments later on court four, Hopton posted a 6-3, 6-4 triumph and made it a two-point advantage for the Chanticleers.
 
Paola Landin Lopez and Mathilde Tranberg closed out the match with victories on courts three and two, respectively.  Lopez defeated Mae McCutcheon 6-2, 6-4, while Tranberg notched a 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) win over Kate Malazonia, which provided the final margin of victory in the overall match.
 
In less than 48 hours, the Chants (7-6, 2-1 SBC) will return to action against the UT Arlington Mavericks on Sunday, March 20, at 10 a.m. ET.
