PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina University women's golf team shot a six-over 294 in the first round of the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Intercollegiate held at the True Blue Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C. With their score, the Chants hold an early first-round lead.
While the Chanticleers were able to finish their round, most of the first-round play was suspended with several teams still on the course due to darkness. Those teams will tee off early on Tuesday to finish their first-round action before the second round will begin.
Caitlin Evans-Brand (36-37),
Tiffany Arafi (38-35), and
Sara Sarrion (39-34) each finished their rounds with a one-over 73.
Jenjira Jinangkul shot a three-over 75 (36-39) and
Sophia Carlsen finished her first round with an eight-over 80 (39-41).
Playing as individuals,
Maika Llarena and
Isabella Spinazze finished with a seven-over 79 (39-40) and 12-over 84 (42-42), respectively.
Behind CCU on the team leaderboard are Incarnate Word and SMU who are tied for second at eight-over 296. South Alabama is in fourth (+11, 299), while Missouri (+15, 303) rounds out the top five. After the top five, the field is divided by the rest of the teams that must finish their first round early on Tuesday.
